Yesterday was my birthday, and my husband spoilt me wonderfully. It started with breakfast in bed (coffee and an almond croissant and my birthday cards to open), and then he baked me a birthday cake and cooked dinner. He even did (most of!) the clearing up!
He made sausages with bacon cubes, mushrooms and shallots in a red wine sauce, with mashed potato. It was really yummy. The cake is only the third cake he has ever made – he even made the chocolate fudge frosting himself. I’m impressed, it was all delicious and a lovely treat (and none of us have food poisoning this time!).
